Sehaj Path Bhog is the closing ceremony of a continuous recitation of the Sikh scripture. Send invitations for this sacred congregation and community meal.

About Sehaj Path Bhog

Sehaj Path Bhog marks the completion of an Akhand Path — an unbroken reading of the Guru Granth Sahib that typically spans 48 hours. The bhog (blessed meal) is served to all attendees after prayers and kirtan (hymn singing). The invitation should convey the date, time, and location of the ceremony, the name of the family or organization sponsoring the path, and whether it is being held at a gurdwara or private space. A bhog ceremony draws extended family, community members, and friends. Attendees may be asked to participate in the langar (community kitchen) or simply join for the meal and prayers. The occasion is both spiritual and social—marking the conclusion of a significant devotional undertaking.

Cultural context

Sikh tradition centers on the Guru Granth Sahib as the eternal guru. An Akhand Path is an act of devotion, often commissioned for thanksgiving, healing, or remembrance. The continuous recitation ensures no break in the sacred text. Bhog is the sanctified offering of karah prasad (sweet pudding) and meal that follows, shared equally among all present, embodying Sikh principles of equality and community.
